Nutrition Services
Our dietitian will help you develop healthier eating habits and improve cooking skills in order for you to stay healthy, improve your health or manage a chronic condition. After assessing your medical history, current life style and factors that affect your diet, the dietitian will provide you with advice on what to change and will help you put these recommendations into practice with nutrition counselling.
Whether your goal is to enhance your relationship with food, reduce chronic disease risk, or simply feel better in your body, our dietitian provides a compassionate, non-judgmental support for all clients. They use a weight-inclusive and evidence-based approach to empower you to make informed, sustainable choices about your health and nutrition, regardless of your current weight or body size.
Free individual nutrition assessment and counselling is available to clients who live in our catchment area for the following reasons:
- high cholesterol
- high blood pressure
- iron deficiency anemia
- preconception, pregnancy and breastfeeding
- picky eating in children
- digestive problems
- osteoporosis
- weight concerns
- emotional eating
- disordered eating
- repeated dieting
- vegetarian & vegan diets
- other nutrition issues
Stonegate Cooking Club Cookbook
The Stonegate Cooking Club Cookbook features delicious, affordable, and nourishing recipes from our monthly hands-on classes led by a Registered Dietitian. Created with support from Toronto Metropolitan University nutrition students, this easy-to-follow collection celebrates culturally diverse dishes and practical tips to make healthy cooking simple and enjoyable. Eat Well, Spend Less
We’re excited to share a 5-part video series, Eat Well, Spend Less, created by Toronto Metropolitan University Nutrition students to support the Stonegate community with grocery shopping, planning, and preparing nutritious, budget-friendly meals. The videos can be found at the following link.

- For parents of picky eaters, Ellyn Satter Institute provides information on how to raise competent eaters, Division of Responsibility in Feeding, feeding practices and guidance for different age groups, as well as solving feeding problems.
- Half Your Plate is another Canadian website that has recipes, videos and ideas on how to eat more fruits and vegetables
- Diabetes Canada is a great source of information for people living with diabetes or those who want to prevent it. Their section on Nutrition & Fitness has diabetes-friendly recipes, 7-day meal plans, and motivating info on exercise.
