Stonegate CHC’s Stage 3 Update

July 31, 2020

It was announced that the City of Toronto would be moving to Stage 3 effective Friday July 31st, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

Additional business and public spaces will be able to gradually reopen with public health and workplace safety restrictions in place, while some high-risk venues and activities will remain closed until they can safely resume operations.

What does Stage 3 mean for us?

Stonegate CHC program and services will continue to be implemented on a modified schedule that includes:
- Modified hours Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00p.m.
- All appointments must be scheduled with a provider, if you need to come to the Health Centre your provider will notify you.
- Programs will be provided online.
- All clients will be screened first on the phone when making an appointment with a provider and then by staff behind the glass barrier at reception.
- Clients will be asked to sanitize their hands and wear a mask. Wearing a mask or face covering has been required in indoor public spaces beginning July 7, 2020 under City of Toronto By-Law 541-2020
- Waiting room chairs have been minimized and spaced to ensure 2 metre distance.
- Waiting room will regularly be cleaned by staff wearing full PPE.
- Staff will be screened for symptoms and have their temperature taken at the beginning of each day.

We are exploring providing outdoor programming and are implementing a risk assessment on all our programs and service reviewing how to mitigate risk and determine which programs can safely return.

Stonegate Community Health Centre will continue to work toward recovery acting responsibly by putting measures in place to keep the community safe

What can you do?
- Maintain 2-metres distance from everyone outside your safe social circle.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
- Wear a non-medical mask where maintaining physical distancing is difficult and where masks are mandatory. Protect the supply of medical grade masks for health care workers.
- If you think you might have COVID-19 or have been exposed to it you should get tested. While waiting for test results, stay home, self-isolate and prevent potential spread.

Stonegate CHC Update – Hours and Appointments

March 18, 2020

Over the next three weeks, Stonegate CHC will be operating at the reduced hours of 8:30 – 4:00 pm each day. If you call to schedule an appointment, an appointment time will be booked for your provider to telephone you.  If the provider decides they need to have you in for an examination or blood work, they will book an onsite appointment for you at the Centre.   When you come to Stonegate for an appointment, you will be asked to sanitize your hands and put on a mask.  You will be asked if you have a cough or fever.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Medical Officer of Health has advised:

-   All persons over 70 years of age and individuals who are immunocompromised are advised to self-isolate for a period of 14 days. This means that you should only leave your home or see other people for essential reasons.  Where possible, you should seek services over the phone or internet or ask for help from friends, family or neighbours with essential errands.

-   Everyone in Ontario should be practicing social distancing to reduce their exposure to other people. This means that you can carry out daily activities, such as going to work (if you cannot work from home) and doing necessary shopping and appointments.

-   That everyone in Ontario does their best to avoid close contact with people outside of their immediate families. Close contact includes being within 2 meters of another person.

If you think you might need to be assessed for the COVID-19 virus – use this:   A Self Assessment Tool available at: https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus  or call Telehealth Ontario at: 1-866-797-0000 (24/7)

All Group Programs Have Been Suspended

March 16, 2020

Given the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), we want to direct you to official resources that you can access regarding how to protect yourself, what to do if you are sick, and where to get reliable, up-to-date information on the status of this outbreak in Toronto and Ontario.

Toronto Public Health: Toronto.ca/coronavirus
Ontario Ministry of Health: Ontario.ca/coronavirus
Public Health Agency of Canada: Canada.ca/coronavirus

Public health experts stress the importance of practicing everyday preventive behaviours, such staying at home when sick, coughing and sneezing into tissues and promptly disposing of them, frequently and properly washing hands with soap and water, and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.

The Province has closed schools until at least April 6th to promote social distancing. Social Distancing measures are approaches taken to minimize close contact with others in the community, as you have seen the closing of schools, museums, theatres, recreation centres, libraries and other places where people gather. To cooperate with these measures we have decided to suspend our group programming until at least April 6th. We don’t want to encourage people, especially vulnerable people like seniors and those with chronic conditions to gather here when that might put them at greater risk of getting sick.

We will resume our group programming as soon as it is safe to do so.

Our one-to-one services are continuing and our staff are here to answer questions and offer support. Please don’t hesitate to call if you are looking for advice or help with something.

COVID – 19

March 10, 2020

Stonegate CHC is following daily updates from the Ministry of Health about the COVID-19 virus.  At this point, since we are not seeing community transmission of the virus, we will continue with all of our group programs.  If you are sick in any way, do not come to programs, stay home.  You will be asked if you have a fever or cough when you arrive for a group or a program and asked to sanitize your hands.  If you are sick and need an appointment, call to book one.  They will ask you about any travel or symptoms before booking an appointment.  If you have travelled to any affected areas and have a cough and a fever we will tell you to stay home and self-isolate.  Toronto Public Health can be reached at 416-338-7600 (after hours at 311) and Telehealth Ontario can be reached at 1-866-797-0000

Although risk of COVID-19 in Ontario remains low , the Ministry of Health has created a dedicated web page, with links and resources, to help Ontarians learn how to protect themselves, what to do if they are sick after they travel and how to recognize possible symptoms.

The Ministry of Health has developed an information sheet about the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The information sheet is available in multiple languages.
