National Day For Truth and Reconciliation

Today, September 30th is Truth and Reconciliation day where we commemorate a painful part of Canadian history that includes the tragic legacy of residential schools.
It will require a multigenerational commitment from all Canadians to mitigate the negative impact and trauma that the Indigenous people and their culture have experienced across generations.
Stonegate CHC acknowledges the intergenerational pain and suffering caused by residential schools and other systemic forms of racism and oppression and is committed to enhancing our understanding of our Indigenous Peoples experiences.

Medical Exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccine
As more workplaces require COVID-19 vaccination, we started to see high number of requests for medical exemption letters. At Stonegate Community Health, we need to ensure we are only allowing COVID-19 vaccine exemptions in the few situations where they are needed.
There are very few acceptable medical exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination which include,
1. a confirmed severe allergy or anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or to any of its components (ingredients) that cannot be avoided
or
2. a diagnosed episode of myocarditis/pericarditis (heart conditions) after receiving an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, such as Pfizer or Moderna.
These are rare cases and the fact that the vaccines have been proven to be both safe and effective, any notes written for patients who meet one of the reasons for a medical exemption will clearly specify:
• the reason they cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 (for example, document clear medical information that supports the exemption);
and
• the time period for the medical reason (for example, permanent or time-limited).
If you have any questions or concerns about receiving the COVID 19 vaccine please book an appointment with your health care provider.
Thank you,
Stonegate Management
Election Canada
In the last Federal Election Stonegate CHC was a polling station where members of our community could come into the centre to cast their vote. Due to COVID 19 and related community primary health care guidelines, Stonegate CHC will unfortunately be unable to host a polling station for our upcoming Federal Election.
To find out where you can vote please visit the Election Canada website

Opportunity to Volunteer: Board of Directors
We are looking for interested local residents to join the Board of Directors
Stonegate Community Health Centre (“CHC”) is a charitable organization serving the Stonegate community. Our vision is to create a healthy, active and inclusive community where physical, mental and social well-being is achieved. Stonegate Community Health Centre works to improve the well-being of our community. Together, we identify individual and community needs and respond by providing accessible and inclusive health services and health promotion programs.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the CHC. We are looking for committed individuals who are:
- Interested in taking a leadership role in the community
- Comfortable participating in group discussions at meetings
- Available and willing to commit an average of 5-10 hours per month, including participating in monthly meetings and serving on at least one Board committee
Our objective is to have a Board of Etobicoke residents with a variety of skills and experience. We want our Board of Directors to reflect the diversity of our community. We welcome and encourage candidates who are women, BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+ and people with disabilities to apply for this position. We aim to have a Board that holds a variety of perspectives and ultimately can make more informed decisions about the populations we serve.
The Board works together in three main areas:
1. Ensuring the CHC is leading the charge to create as much community impact as possible
2. Ensuring the CHC is complying with all its legal obligations
3. Ensuring the CHC’s work is getting done in all program/operational areas
Please click on Stonegate Board Application to complete or application. We will be conducting the interviews virtually over the summer with the first meeting of the Board scheduled in November. Board meetings have been held virtually during the pandemic.
